Boeing "digitally remastered" the entire A-10 wing and beefed it up, and AFAIK they are building the entire wing, not just the spars.

The Boeing contract was for a whole new wing like BDK mentioned. The re-winging is part of the A-10C upgrade, which was expanded to include the entire remaining fleet. BTW, the A-10 unit retirements were due more to BRAC and the desire to "minimize" the number of locations that airframes were at than the wing cracks at the time. The wing cracks only accelerated the BRAC reduction process.

it was more political then that. the 111th lost their jets after being heavily involved in the A+ upgrade (similar to the C, one less MFD) as ACC didn't want to take over as tenent of willow grove. those jets were upgraded well before they left NXX last June. the navy wanted out, so big blue outright killed the 913th AW and after the 111th turned down other airframes, (C-21, et al) they got nothing. the state got to keep it's tankers and SOW -130s. there was no way the 175th in MD was gonna lose their jets.

FWIW if that's what the air force needed to do to pay for A+/C then it's for the best. if it means that people live and battles are won downrange then i'm all for it
