From the Barnstormers website:

STEARMAN PROJECT COLLECTION • ACCEPTING OFFERS • I bought a collection of old cars, old nautical stuff,7-8 Stearman projects and 2 buildings full to the rafters last month.I sold the cars. Now time to sell the Stearman stuff.I have it over in New Mexico at the old cropduster airstrip where they have been for many years. There is about everything from bare fuselage to an almost done Stearman/Boeing, There are shelves and shelves of Stearman parts, wings, engines, seats, new in box wing rib sets, gauges etc.The late owner was a bit of a Stearman hoarder. And would buy pretty much any Stearman items he came across.Check link below. • AIRPLANE COLLECTION PICTURES • Contact Greg Clark, Owner - located Prescott, AZ USA • Telephone: 928-460-0820 . • Posted April 30, 2011

Of interest, at least to my untrained eye:

Love it! Stearman with three .50 cals in each wing. Retractable undercarriage too!

Cheers,
Matt

There was an ad last month or so for a bunch of Stearman stuff that also included a P-51 wreck.

That is a P-51H wreck.
IIRC it might be the AZ wreck recovered in the 90s?
The pieces are actually larger than I expected.

I am not sure where in NM the Stearman and Mustang parts are.

For no reason whatsoever, I believe that the photos show an airfield South of Moriarty; the place looks familiar.

Tulio my friend, that would be at Deming, NM on the south side of the airfield across the street from the WWII hangers.
Not the Piasecki guy BTW.

I sent a e mail offering $100.00 bucks but when I went back and look at the Pics I had seen some things I did not like so I changed my offer to $50.00. I let you know if he accepts it.

Ah! With apologies to anyone from Deming, but that is one ugly place    Usually, when I am traveling between El Paso and Tucson,
Deming has always been a convenient refueling stop, but boy, is that a boring drive! :Hangman: :Hangman:

It would be nice though, to be able to purchase the airplane parts.

Saludos, Steve!

Yeah, no wife, but no $$ either :D :D :D :D :D :D

Just to clip this OT stuff: Boring: Kingman, AZ to Barstow, CA; Midland TX to Rosswell, NM and oh, so many others!

Steve, since you know the location of this airfield, do you know anything about the abandoned WWII auxiliary / training fields in AZ [Mostly south of I-10 / I-8)?
Any in NM that you have actually visited?

Saludos,

Tulio

Sorry Tulio I have not but find these interesting:

http://home.comcast.net/~nmgeoglyphs/nmgeoglyphs.html

Here is another good source on aux field's:

http://www.airfieldsdatabase.com/WW2/WW2.htm
For NM if you click on the highlighted AAF it comes up a current google view with the coordinates.

Thank you!!!

I have on occasion, spent a few hours looking the area through Google Earth. Very interesting places, to say the least.

I have the books on the abandoned airfields in the USA, an excellent source.

Saludos,

Tulio
