Evergreen tankers on the move...

I got this little note in an E-mail....
I thought it was interesting.

Thanks for sharing that Zane. It is nice to hear that they will return to the air. Hopefully they will wind up as restored Warbirds some day.

Actually, I think it'd be cool to see these two stay as tankers and Neptune take one or two of it's oldest aircraft and "restore" them to warbirds as a fitting retirement.

I believe restoration to flight is for transport only. 1 machine is to be a parts source and the 2nd to become a crew trainer.

The old Evergreen P-2's have some bad corrosion, It was found to be not worth fixing for Evergreen so they were parked. But that was then and this is now, and there are still a few clean airframes left to tank out there. But with the way the Forest Circus runs things there will be a forced retirement of all radial engine tankers one day, So for Neptune Aviation to spend a million and change to tank a new Neptune and bring it up to speed will be pretty risky.
