It is very nice to have one right in your own backyard!
Usually I have to fly in an airliner or drive 5-8 hours to get to the shows I want to go to!

Did you guys get rain on Saturday? It looked awfully dark that way from standing in sunshine in Deer Park on LI. On Sunday I waited til 3pm for ISP to go to 900' scattered VFR to get some touch-n-goes in with my student. BDR looked like it was VFR for most of the day though?

Hope you guys do this every year. Couldn't make it up because of family functions, otherwise would've been there on Saturday. I'm always at BDR with my students, controllers are friendly and great fuel prices at 3 wings and Atlantic.

I had a great time too! Hanging out with great people like Chris,( Warbird Kid,) and Dennis Soltis, Jerry O'niell-Hope that foot gets well soon!, Drew King and the rest of that wonderful bunch of CASC members was a awesome experience. Chris, that video is great! The footage and editing is perfect. Hopefully i will have some photo's up later for all of us to enjoy! :D

Bernadette and I just got back home and we are just as pumped from the weekend. We had a blast and met lots of new and old friends. I will be posting more photos here http://www.airic.ca/html/2011stratfordww.html as time permits.

Cheers,

Eric

WHat is the light source on the B-25 shots? Car headlights?

It was the Airports Crash Fire Rescue truck!
They wet the area down for us and then with the help of WIX'er Richard Allnutt and Roger Salles, they then positioned the lights on the truck to hit the B-25. Willie and the Airport Staff have been fantastic to the air show every year.
I think next year they will get more focusable lights to get some even better pics, but Eric's photos are really tremendous! The Connecticut Corsair R-4360 used the same firetruck lights but they also had some lights on the test stand and alternated turning different combinations of lights on and ff during the run.
Friday it was planned to shoot AAPM's P-40, but with the bad weather it couldn't make it in on Friday, so the Freedom's Flying Memorial's H-34 Seahorse was substituted.
Too bad more shows don't capitalize on the aircraft assets they bring into town!

BTW;
Those of you who couldn't make the show or wanted a ride in Panchito have another option next week!!

Yankee Air Force's B-17 Flying Fortress, "Yankee Lady", will arrive at Sikorsky Memorial Airport in Stratford on Tuesday Morning, May 31, right after Memorial Day afternoon and will be staying through Wednesday running their Flight Experience rides!
If you missed out last weekend, now's the time!

The rides will be operated out of Three Wing Flying Services, 300 Great Meadow Road, Stratford.
First come first serve all day long.

It's a great bunch of guys and a good thing to do to help support the Yankee Air Force!
Hope to see you there!

Glad you folks were able to marshal the resources to do that. There have been some fantastic period photos that are similar. Almost makes the props look like a plastic disc you would use on a model!

I can just imagine MAAM's P-61 in a night photo shoot like this, complete with operational .50 cal's firing away! :D

Jerry,

What do you think about doing a night run with the 17?

Not a bad idea.
Possible, but you really need more time to organize it and you have to talk the crew into it since they would have to pay for the gas. If you can sell it to photogs, then you can get the gas paid for and it's more likely the crew will say yes.
