I joined the CAF awhile back, been helping out at the hangar with wrenches, rivet guns and oil rags and am looking forward to getting checked out to fly a T-6, perhaps a Lodestar... think I oughta ask CAF Midland what kind of pay scale I can expect??

Wait, what? When did the CAF start allowing people to work on their stuff for free, I thought YOU had to pay THEM for the privilege?

Hello,

I am not sure I understand what the issue is.

Some warbird operators want money for their services. Other warbird operators don't.

Big deal.

Randy you would make a great General! It aint over till it's over. Regis Urshcler first came to Oshkosh as a Lt. COl. He wasn't supposed to make COl. because he wasn't married, went to a small college, etc. and the USAF was all about the "white picket fence." WHen he retired , a Brigadier Gen. he was in the slot of a Major General, he just got caught in the timing dilemma. His successor got his Maj. Gen. stars shortly thereafter.

PS Don't even think of comparing working for History Flight and being a member of the CAF. Completely different operations and concept. I'm a CAF member, and flew both the T-6 and B-25 for History Flight last summer.
Volunteering your time to the CAF is all about using the airplanes to tell a story of American history.
History Flight sells :15 in a T-6 for $325.00, and if you want the video, it's an additional $70.00. For :30, it's $495.00 + $70.00, and for an hour it's $845.00 and they'll throw in the video.
If you want a good hour of dual in a T-6, come see me in STL. It's $500.00 hr. wet, including instructor.
