Here another view of mine over people crying about mods at work...
Warbird - what does it mean? Can you tell?
Usually it means a retired from service but restored and operated flying aircraft OR static museum item.
It can include related topics as restoration projects of said above or museum associated items such as airshow reviews, seeking information on a previous pilot or plane and maybe even artworks.
It doesnt include as i see it - a modern day aerobatic team, talks of a backpack mortar shell, what race Obama is or whatever and what is funny for the day.
A warbird is a warbird. I come here to read and share warbird related information.
If people cant talk or share information maybe they are at the wrong forum eh?
If people dont like a mod stepping up and removing stuff that isnt warbird related... as has been pointed out before .....they are free to go.
There are millions of other forums on the net for non warbird stuff. Just go to google...
I still dont understand why this forum has off topic stuff still here???
Am i the only confused warbird forum reader who doesnt see the connection of funny stuff and a warbird?

I understand what you are trying to say here and I usually don't comment on these "opinion threads", but with respect for everyone else's opinion I'll offer my own.
I notice you included "jet aerobatic teams" on your list of "non-warbird related topics". I would opine that you might have gone a bridge too far with the inclusion of the jet teams on this list. I'll explain why.
In answer to your question "what is a warbird?" I agree. A warbird considered alone is really nothing more or less than a beautiful machine sitting in place somewhere whether it be in a museum, on a ramp in the sun and rain, in a hangar somewhere and in flyable condition, or on a stick in front of some old rusting building or facility.
The point I'm attempting to make here is that unless you want to discuss your favorite photograph of some warbird most of the INTERESTING discussion directed toward warbirds will be about PEOPLE; people who fly them, maintain them, and care for them. For those warbirds that fly, their missions and the venues in which they operate are also of interest. As I view the situation anyway, if the topic concerns the aircraft, it virtually HAS to include at least some information about what the aircraft is doing, and if the aircraft is doing something, PEOPLE have to be involved with that "doing" whether it be current events or historical remembrance. So it's really PEOPLE we're talking about here on WIX, unless as I said, you simply wish to comment on the aircraft itself as it sits somewhere doing nothing.
Naturally there are limits to all this interest, and on a forum like WIX, it's up to the moderators to decide where and when these limits get out of hand and need some "adjustment".
This is a double edged sword on a forum like this one. The members have a responsibility to make every attempt to keep the discussion on topic, and the moderators have a responsibility to the forum to make every effort to be fair in their assessment of what constitutes "on topic discussion".
As I see it, you can reduce all your posting issues down to a single phrase to express where warbird posting goes astray, and that phrase is POLITICAL SLANT. You succeed in stopping anything and everything revealing political slant and you will succeed in solving 99% of all your "off topic, off color, confrontational discussion.
About the Blue Angels; the team flies WARBIRDS, their mission is a WARBIRD mission, the people who belong to the team, EVERY ONE OF THEM, are highly specialized WARBIRD PEOPLE. Topic concerning the Blue Angels generally and the people who make up the team is in my opinion warbird related and as such I would hope anyway, considered by the moderators here to be very much on topic for WIX. Conversely, discussion offered about the Blue Angels stressing one way or another a political position of favor or disfavor concerning their mission I would expect the moderators to consider "off topic". The thread concerning the change of command in the Blue Angels offered with no political slant I would consider as being a warbird related topic.
The above as I said, is simply offered here respectfully and with consideration of the opinions of others.
