Is it possible there is a picture of Bunker Hill's 167 Corsair somewhere? After years of trying I have lost hope, I can find it myself. Maybe someone may help?

If this is the Corsair that would have been at Oshkosh in 1978, I have a scan of a slide I took of it landing. I'll dig it out after work today, perhaps this is what you're looking for?

Hedrick never had his own assisgned Corsair in VF-84.
He flew #167 periodically but so did many others in Air Group
84 (including the Marine squadron embarked). It's another
longstanding myth but at least (unlike the ETO based P-51s)
it really was painted blue!

It is clear 167 was not Hedrick's own. Still the frame is connected with him and no photos are known so far.
Jack, these VF-84 pics are not new to me, but thank You very much for posting. I have learned a lot of very interesting things from the pictures You have posted in the past. Thank You for that too.

I am looking for original VF-84 aircraft pics of course. The pics of todays birds ar not that rare. Again thanks for help.

try criticalpast.com and see if you can come up with some VF-84 footage. Hopefully, that will springboard you to some photos.

I'd pay a very handsome reward to anyone who could locate a document that matches the Air Group 84 Corsair's modex/fuselage numbers to the planes' actual Bureau Numbers. Archie Donahue led the Air Group, which was comprised of VF-84, VMF-221 and VMF-451 and I've long imagined that his personal records might still hold a document that cross references these numbers.
