I don't work with the LSFM, but heres what I remember from visiting a few times between Ike and a few months ago.

It got hit HARD, as I'm sure most of yall know... In picture one on the first page, the blue panelling around the bottom of the building is new, since they had to replace all the walls that got flood damage.

The gift shop was underwater... looks great now! I'm thrilled to see the 'carrier model back... I missed it.

The DC3 picture shows another example of how high the water was... See the nice clean new white and the older, un-replaced wall.

Mustang is new! Go see her!

the LSFM website has some good (but heartbreaking) pictures of the facility after Ike.. http://www.lsfm.org/36hours.html and others in the photo link. If you haven't seen them, you should!

The Texas Aviation Hall of Fame got smashed... I do not know what their plans are for it... but last I saw, hangar 2, let alone the TAHF, wasnt even open yet... so...

All in all, though, the LSFM hit the ground after Ike fighting, and did an amazing job of recovery! They still can always use help and love though.

Kurt, how did you get the nose door open in the 4Y?
If any of y'all have a photo post Ike of the wall in Hangar 1 with the nose art, there is a crud encrusted American flag on that wall that shows the high water mark. It's kinda like our version of the 9/11 flag. It's hanging exactly where it was when the flood burst in to show the water level.

As far as quetions on when something will fly again, we have to refer that sort of thing to the CO. Some topics we're not allowed to speculate on in a public forum.

Doug, whats the word on the Avenger?

Some random shots. I was part of the crew that came and picked up the Spit and F3F. I'm 5' 8" and all the water marks were above me by a few inches . Its amazing what water can do with enough force behind it!

Steve, I honestly don't know on the Avenger and don't know if I'd get away with a comment here anyway. And the Federal agency whose letters begin with F is still a cuss word down here.
