TP-51C photos

Hi All;
New Photos have been posted to the MustangsMustangs website, of Max Chapman's TP-51C Mustang, #42-103293. She is currently unpainted with a olive-drab anti glare panel, and a red spinner/cowling narrow band. She also has fuselage/ wing stars and bars, and tail #103893. Max Chapman and Lee Lauderback have been flying it for a few weeks already.
It is reported that she is ready for painting at John Muszala's Pacific Fighters shop in Idaho, and should be seen at Oshkosh this year. Any word on what paint scheme she is due to carry??

Very very nice machine! However this is another perfect example of a Replica Scratch built Warbird. I see nothing wrong with it as long as it doesnt get "mixed" with the true legit Warbirds. They did a great job!

Is there any movement under way as to how to separate or identify replicas vs. original aircraft? I like to know which is which. I think it is great that people are starting to create some rare birds. I enjoy seeing WWI aircraft even if they are replicas. I can’t wait to see the Me-262, Oscars… that have /are being built. But when you have a field of Mustangs I’d like to know which is which.

BTW... I support the replica movement as well. It is a great tribute to the skills of the designers.

I would suggest that this movement has already started. Books like WD4 go a long way to providing a guide to maintained provence airframes, as well a composite restorations, etc. Scott's Warbird Registry is a good place to document which airframes are "real" and which are outright replicas.
