Good Job! It's great this plan came together, all involved should be proud. We will never know again, the likes of the WW2 Fighter Pilot, for they were part of - the Greatest Generation! :drink3:

I have been out of town for several days and am now just catching up on this one. To say I am proud to have been closely affiliated on a volunteer level for the past 10 plus years with LSFM is an understatment, and this is only one of the many reaons.

I have seen so many strange threads here over the last few years about this organiziaiotn, often times from folks looking very quickly from the outside in, seeing oen side or spakeing to one person, and not taking the time to really get to know the overall collective of folks that make up the volunteers and paid staff. Sure they are facing some substanital challenges in the wake of a bad storm coupled with a bad economy and not everyone will agree with the often hard desciions that they are faced with, but this event represents to me the core of what volunteer and paid staff are there for and why they turn on the lights and open the doors every day(and fight hard to make it happen).

Sure - there are always some people that are going to question a certain paint color, or why something is flown or not flown over something else and even the occasional cleaning out of a hanger filled with storm damaged debris that is to far gone to repair. At the end of the day however the physibal elements of the collectoin are only worth something when they are represeting and rembering the human spirit, triumphs, and tragedis that came out of past and have made us who we are today.

I have often told folks that I first showed up at the musuem for the equipment and the hope to sit in a cockpit or two. After some hardwork and dedication that did not go unnoticed I surpassed those goals quickly and found that it was not the airplanes that kept me there but the people such as this gentleman that I met over the years as a result of my involvment. I have heard on several occastions from spouses of veterans that they had never in 50 years of marriage heard the story of a particular mission or event during "the war" that was just recounted to me because I showed an interest and apprecation in them adn provided a connection to there youth.

Keep up the good work Paul and thanks to everyone for making this happen- it is what this Warbird thing is really all about.
