The trouble with shooting the trimotor is it never stays put long enough to get a shot lined up!

They're really poor hammers, cameras, aren't they?

Seriously though, sorry to hear that Al. I wonder how many cameras give up the ghost at Osh? One of mine burnt out on my second visit.

I heard one of the top pros remark once that a friend at Oshkosh lost his grip on a Hasselblad in the back seat of a T-6 and it went overboard from a couple thousand feet...........

None of those things that gave up the ghost were cameras. Real cameras do in fact make pretty good hammers and then go on to shoot pictures for 30 years or so. Think of these failures as a sign that you need to learn what a real camera is and get one!

Film, isn't that the ancient stuff found in the wreckage field of WWII aircraft in Italy?

Brian,

I am pretty sure I got a shot of your T-6. It was hard to look at without sunglasses. 8)

I will have to go through all of my shots and see what I have and then I'll shoot you a PM if there's anything worth sending you a copy of.

The AAC Trimotor belongs to the Kalamazoo Air Zoo. It flew throughout the 90s after a long restoration by Kal-Aero before being grounded along with the rest of the Air Zoo fleet at the end of the 2000 flying season. It flew again briefly in either 2001 or 2002 (can't remember which) before corrosion was found in the main spar. Trimotor specialist Maurice Hovious of Hove-Aire Inc. did some of the work, and then work stalled for a number of years before it was sent up to Alma, MI for completion. It flew again briefly in 2009 and was ferried back to the museum. To my knowledge, this is the first time its flown since being back with the museum. Unfortunately I don't know much about what the plans are because none of the volunteers seem to know and the museum's newsletters are basically useless unless you want to know about amusement park rides.

Here are a couple pics of it while it was up at KAMN getting work done on it:

Thanks Matt, too bad there is no communication in their outfit.

Whenever it gets a little too warm, there's nothing quite like a nap under the shade trees down by the antiques & classics. Scenery ain't half-bad either.

Although I'm sure WIX Cadet Bear will shortly post his annual photographic summary of Thursday's recruitment drive, a quick preview would include Maddie, seen here taking her first ride in the Grissom Cheyenne. Although I sorta botched the shot, you can tell that Maddie would make the perfect tailgunner, as she is so cute that no enemy flieger would ever fire in her direction.

Sorry, no hot dog salad pics, as you gotta' use both hands for eatin' if you're gonna' get any deviled eggs from Greenwood.

Thank you Matt! I personally have no details on the Texan, other than what could be found on the internet. I've had some interest in post-WWII warbirds in civilian colors from the 50's/60's/70's, so this one stood out to me. Here's one overall shot I got of it.
