Now, for something a little different

From B'stormers:

OLD AIRCRAFT WANTED • MAKE OFFER • We are looking for an old plane preferably a DC-4 or Constellation, but we are also considering a Russian plane (AN12 or an Ilyushin 76). We want to use the plane for a Bed & Breakfast accommodation in the Netherlands. The plane is not going to fly anymore, so it is not important what the technical condition of the plane is. It would be perfect if it can make one last ferry flight to the Netherlands. If that is not possible anymore we have to look at other ways of transport (over the water/land?). The only thing that is important is the condition of the outside of the plane (no corrosion) and the cockpit that needs to look complete for guests staying in the Bed & Breakfast. • Contact Ben Thijssen - HOTELSUITES located De Bilt, Netherlands • Telephone: +31 30 2210568 • Fax: +31 30 2204955 • Posted October 3, 2005

This many not be as "new" of an idea as you may think. I have heard of old 727s being converted into homes in Arizona. In fact some have been mounted on a pivot base so the whole aiframe can rotate into the wind. It is like a huge weather vane.

Not new, different. Different from the usual warbird postings we see here.

I am aware of the 727s used as homes in Arkansas, or is it in Georgia? I have also seen some aircraft converted into restaurants and kiddie playgrounds.

Save for the possibility of a tornado, I would consider living let's say, in a 747, or a DC-10, with lots of space . . . : )
