Ok, so I am trying to get the record straight on an airframe. I saw the N1324 airframe at Oshkosh, and now in trying to get my database straight, I am having a hard time figuring out exactly which airframe it is. Also, it is being shown as deregistered on the FAA website.

Based on everything that I have seen published, N1324 and N58SF are intimately related. But VZ365 also seems a part of the mix. N58SF is currently shown as being registered to Weeks. Does anyone know if this airframe is complete, and if it is in his possession? Also, With Baker using parts of VZ365 in the rebuild of N71GB, did the remainder of that airframe end up as N1324?

To add to the confusion, the FAA registry shows N58SF as 41H623271, and N1324 as 41H623282. Does anyone have the Hawker construction number for VZ365?

Anyone know what the new registration is for N1324? Has it gone to Canada?

History: FB.10 (1954) 324 Iraqi AF, N58SF (1979), damaged in a hanger fire at Rockford IL (1989/7/19), N1234 (1990/7), restored using a Wright R-3350 engine, to Sandy Thomson, to TG Air Power Inc. (2001/1/4), to Ciniema Sixteen / Sandy Thompson / C-FGAT (2005/9/21)
Notes: This example was restored using parts from at least three airframes including Iraqi s/n 241, Iraqi s/n 324 and RAF s/n VZ365.

Received the following email from Steve Tournay today...

FYI, Sandy T's Fury has now been painted. It's in the basic 50s Royal Navy grey-over-Sky livery, but devoid of markings. The grey top ahead of the windshield, plus (oddly enough) the spinner, are matt, the rest is gloss. Nose bowl is chrome yellow. Registration in civil-style italic block letters on the fin is C-FGAT. Won't be confused with a P-47 anymore, and certainly does have an air of mystery about it.

Thanks for the registration update. I thought that was probably what happened. Now I can update that part of my data base. Now, for the hard part. N58SF is registered to Weeks with the 41H623271 number, and C-FGAT was registered as 41H623282 on the US registry. So I guess the real question is does anyone know about the Weeks plane? Is it just parts or is it a real airframe? Also, what happened with the remaining parts of VZ365?

Anyone gotten pictures of the new paint? IF yes, could you post a pic or two? Glad to hear that the airplane is finally getting a finished look to it.

C-FGAT was built from parts. From how many airplanes...I'm not sure anyone knows. (At least 3.) As for N58SF, my understanding is that it was destroyed in a fire in Rockford in the 80s. Obviously some parts survived and were used in C-FGAT.

We had a Iraqi Fury here in Akron for a while. The fus was from one plane, the center section another. The left outer wing from a third and the right outer wing from a fourth. My guess is that the Jurist/Tallichet Furys were sold as complete "kits" with less concern for which parts orignally went with which planes.

If you want to make your head hurt try to figure out just how the former N232J and Argonaut are both ex-RCN TG114. My guess is that both planes have parts from TG114 and that N232J had parts from other Sea Furys whereas Argonaut is made up from left over Iraqi Fury parts.

What a mess, eh!

Mike the way I have my information, and obviously it seems a bit confused, is that N58SF was 41H623271, Iraqi 324, and C/N 37734. So if N58SF is not a real plane, and the Weeks reqistration is being kept for a future build from parts, then I guess the numbers would look right for C-FGAT. However, IF N58SF is a real airplane, then could VZ365 actually be C-FGAT? Also, is the Hawker number 41H62382 associated with any real airframe built?

Thanks Jim. I guess that really assigning an identity to C-FGAT is not likely. I understand your point about TG114. However, if there was a serial number attached to say the fuselage, then would we have a better identity attached to C-FGAT? At least a starting point? I know that N58SF was listed as being in that hanger fire, but why did Weeks have it in Rockford for 10 years? I mean if he owned it for that long, isn't likely that it would have been moved to one of his storage areas? Is it possible that the airplane was not even really in Rockford?
