I will be heading to Lancaster in a few weeks to check out the Cold War Air Museum and somehow forgot (and just now remembered) that the DFW Wing of the CAF is there as well. Does anyone know what aircraft the currently have there? their website says they have the R4D Bluebonnet Belle, but last i checked that aircraft was in Burnet.

The DFW Wing's R4D and the Bluebonnet Bell are two different CAF aircraft of the C-47/R4D family assigned to two different CAF units. You might check here for more info on the planes assigned to the D/FW Wing http://www.contrails.us/caf_dfw_wing/index.htm. Hope that helps.

ah ok well that explains that. I have looked at that website, but I also know that at times, aircraft change hands in reference to wings and squadrons, was just checking to see if the R4D, L-17, T-6, and PT-17 were all that were there still.

Aircraft actually assigned to the DFW wing are the R4D, an L-5, A BT-13 and a Stearman. There are normally two T-6's of CAF members parked in the hangar and sometimes the Corsair.

If you can hold off visiting until next Saturday we are having our annual "Warbirds on Parade", an open house and there will be a variety of aircraft there. I haven't seen the list yet so am not sure what is scheduled to come. I will just be in orange, marshalling whatever drops from the skies. (Even you Karen! Front row parking by the hangar again this year ma'am?)

Where does the CAF Corsair reside now? I always thought it lived in Lancaster.

The CAF Corsair is not always based at Lancaster. As JMC noted, it is not assigned to the DFW Wing. The CAF Corsair Sponsor Group pilots reside in Dallas and Atlanta, so there are periods of time when due to its airshow schedule the Corsair will be hangared elsewhere. Currently it is flying out of Peachtree-Falcon Field, GA. (CAF's Dixie Wing). This weekend Chris Avery is displaying the Corsair at the Offutt AFB Open House in Nebraska.

why dont they just bring it down to TX for the show next weekend? im sure lots of logistics (and money!) involved, and that possibility has already been brought up. was just curious

I did not say it would not be at Warbirds On Parade next weekend. That is still tentative.
I only said where it was this weekend (27/28 August).
