It gave me chill bumps reading some of the entries as they describe events with people I have researched in the production of The Corsair Experience.

Thank you for posting.

Thanks for the link. When I was at the Museum of Flight in Seattle a few months ago, I was most intrigued/awed at the encased logbook of George Ashmun (VMF-214, on loan from the Ashmun family). It was opened to a page containing Dec 2-31 of 1943.....logging events that occurred days before he was KIA (shot down just before Boyington). It was absolutely fascinating to look at the artifacts and feel the respect for those that served during such times. I wish I could come across more logbooks like that.

For the ladies out there, I was showing my wife the pics I took of the display, and she said Ashmun looked like Brad Pitt.....she says that's a good thing. Who's Brad Pitt?

I have never seen "The Corsair Experience", but it looks very good. I am tempted to get the DVD. What can you tell me about it.

VMF-214 is very interesting to me. I am currently reading a book on VMF-214. What is so interesting to me is how they could crash these warbirds and know they can get another one. I wish it were that way today.

Thanks for the link, it's great to read the stories of the men who were there. Here is another story of an F6F pilot in the Pacific. http://ussessex.bravepages.com/npstark.html

Good Link! I have always liked that Hellcat. That F6F is a big airplane when compared to the A6M Zero.

I have had the honor of working on these two planes over the years.

It’s worth every cent and then some. I'd strongly recommend it. Its all about personally experiences, several pilots walk you through what they went through, from flight school to Wars end (and then some). This is not the re-hash of the pacific war that you’ve heard 1000 times. This is the first hand accounts that are very hard to find and are being lost every day.

I can't wait for the P-47 version to come out. I’ll preorder that the first chance I get.

I concur with Tim! :) Worth every cent. It's a jewel of historical record unlike anything I've seen on the market before. FOUR DVD's worth of Corsair tales straight from the pilot's mouths!

Do you want to find locations of displayed, stored or active aircraft? Then start with the The Locator.
Do you want to find or contribute to the documented history of an aircraft? If so then start with the Airframes Database.

I think I will get the DVD, sounds really good from what you guys have said.

When is the P-47 version coming out?

Thanks for the kind words about our project.

The diary link in the first post talks about a CO Weissenberg of 213 not coming back from a flight. I remember finding 2 or 3 nice archive photos of him standing by a corsair. It may seem odd but having spent a couple of hours cleaning up and animating those photos, you become familiar in a way with the person even though you never have met. It just struck me in a way that is hard to describe when I read the diary entry about Weissenberg from another fellow pilot who never made it home.

Thanks again for posting.

As far as the P-47 project goes. We are actively seeking funding for it. The Corsair Experience was 90% funded out of our own pockets and the crew donated their time and equipment. We cannot afford that kind of production again so we are embarking on more tradition forms of funding options.

If you have any leads for me please private message me. :)

We have already shot some footage and interviews and a 10 minute flight video is playing at the Tennessee Museum of Aviation. When we get the rest of the funding to continue production we will post on this forum.

Thanks for the support.
