m50q1ontos, the plane you saw wasnt a B-26, it was a P-2 Neptune Tanker -one of two operating out of fox field supporting the Cajon Pass fire.

Ah, you sure we're talking about the same airplane? The one I saw didn't have jet pods under the wings and looked smaller than a P-2. But I did have a squirming 2yr old in my arms, so it was a quick look LOL!

AFAIK there are not any A-26 Tankers still flying. At that, the last ones I know of that were operational were in Canada and that was back in the late 1970's and early 1980's. They got replaced by the CL-215s and Convair 580s.

The BBMF Lancaster and one of their Spits cruised low over my house this afternoon, the Lanc was crabbing well in the strong crosswind.
About half an hour later a different Spit came over, in the opposite direction. :)

#4 airframe, White 3 was on display @ Vintage weekend with the limo canopy installed, they should be very close to finishing off the 10 hours test flight time and it should be heading to it's new home soon. Anyone got around 2 Mill? They'd be really happy to finish and deliver #5.

Not flying but yesterday I got to see a B-25, P-40, F4U and A6M Zero in the flesh close enough to touch. (Didn't though and my 15 year old son didn't touch either.) These are part of the Texas Flying Legends collecton spending the summer in Wiscasset, Maine. Very cool. Just walk right up and there they were. This was the first Zero I got to see close up. Very interesting to see the main gear leg was made up of numerous steel pieces and dozens of welds to hold it altogether. Looked like something a USA prototype shop would have done before turning it over to production engineering to make in only one or two pieces. Cool also to see that curious shade of green primer. Will be back on Oct. 1 for the air show.

Just had a clipped wing Mustang doing laps around the house. The sun was behind the mountains and he was high so I couldn't tell which one it was. It sounded awesome! He must be ready for Reno.
