Wish there were some A-26s left in the Northeast USA

I miss the days of "Rude Invader" and the one that I think was in Canada showing up to shows, Then there was also the Collings A-26. She was also a sweet looking invader.

CF Invader: 43-5696 Korean War Veteran, 17 BG(L) 95th BS "Kicking Mules". K-9 Pusan Korea combat 1952-53 didn't come home until the 17th came home. 100+ confirmed combat missions returned to her photodocumented 1952 colors. The group only brought 26 aircraft back to CONUS. The rest were ferried to IndoChina from Japan by US crews and given to the French.

The 95th "Kicking Mule" insignia was authorized in 1917 as 95th PS. The unit was never deactivated and now flies as the 95 SRS at Beale in U2s. 696s picture taken at Pusan hung in their HQ while they operated U2s out of Lakenheath.

....probably Alconbury, TR-1s were operated from there during the 1980s. As far as I'm aware, U-2s have never been operated out of Lakenheath.

You're right Mike. It's been a while since I ran the A-26 stuff through my head. Sorry. The 17th had been deactivated but the 95th was retained and operated as a miniwing while at Alconbury. I used the U-2 term generically.
