I saw a pair of PV-2's headed towards Tyler, Texas area for the fires. If anyone know who the drivers are, tell them the 1st PV has a bad oil leak on #1 as I saw it coming a long off trailing white smoke...

Did you mean P2V Neptunes Lynn? Saw a clip of one I thought was servicing the Possum Kingdom fire a few days ago. Down in Tyler now by your post.

Saw another rare one in a clip yesterday, civvy Chinook slinging a bucket. Heard a tanker 737 was due here soon.

That would be them. Steve Dickey said that they have been over in his neck of the woods fighting fires...

On Monday, Sept 5th, I saw a blue Corasir over Whitefish, Montana.

Any idea who's it might be?
I know of a collecter in the area, but I'm not sure hoe close it is to Whitefish, or whether he has a Corasir.

Today, I saw a yellow T-6/SNJ in an open hangar at Kallispel, MT (Glacier Intl. Airport).

It's possible that the Corsair would have been James Smith's F4U-5, which is based at Crystal Lakes Resort Airport in Fortine. Here's the registry entry:

Ah...thanks. The 737 tanker report may have been wrong, but as RickH reported in another thread the DC-10 tanker is here.

Saw the DC-10 Tanker today coming in and going back out from Austin Bergstrom. About a 35 min turn around for refilling. not bad. also an Erickson Skycrane that just got into state today, third one in state so far. Was headed to smithville near Bastrop. 2nd one in that area.

Wasnt a Chinook. Only civvy Chinook in country right now (1 in Afghanistan, 1 in Papua New Guinea, 1 in another overseas location) is still up in Oregon. What you saw was one of the civvy CH-46 Sea Knights, more specifically a KV-107 from Columbia Helicopters. As of a few days ago it was based out of Temple, but may have moved by now. Has been here in Texas since January actually, according to the crew.

Yeah, he reported the DC-10 was on the way a few days ago on Carlisle's "burning barn" thread. No pics yet, but I heard I missed some vids on the news last night.

This from a friend of mine from high school, his brother lives in the Bastrop area.

MY BROTHER writes ;Ok I am exhausted. Police coming around with loud speakers saying to get out. Repacked everything and my son-inlaw Micheal Thacker came running to help from the 290 area. Great guy. My daughter has a good one! Watched that DC-10 come in and saved the day. Can't believe how low they fly. At least the threat is now lowered for now according to one of the fire chiefs. Still ready to go if told we have to.
Replugged the computer in so we can see what is going on.

Man, that kinda makes me want to learn more about this kind of aviating, guess I never really thought about it with quite as much focus before. One airplane 'saved the day', and 'can't believe how low they fly', now that's getting pretty darn fascinating right there.

ABC 13 News has some good A2A video of the DC10 tanker making drops on the Tri-County Fire from one of their news copters.
