Does anyone know what kind of polishing goop they used?

My air museum has several airplanes in need of some good polishing and any help would be appreciated.

The plane was better looking, looking good and looking right, before the polishing work.
Now, it looks like some kind of girly expansive toy, not like a WWII war machine.

This is not in reference to Fuddy Duddy, but to some warbirds ARE just expensive toys. I love authenticity, but sometimes a warbird looks great polished. Heck if I had an 'Every day flier' mustang (i.e. not one I had restored authentically) I'd polish it for sure. Dixie Boy is stunning.

I'm giving Superior Shine some T-6 parts today for polishing. Maybe I can post some before and after shots.

Several shine products will give good results, some way more expensive than others. The biggest variable is the "elbow grease''. If you got lots of cheap labor then most any of the products will do.

Nope, they used Rolite. Because of the quantity of materials they needed they shopped around. Rolite gave them a a good quantity discount so that's what they went with. Fuddy Duddy was the first natural metal aircraft they had ever polished. They had to experiment with equipment and polish to develop the best technique. They said that the B-25 they did later turned out better because of what they had learned.

We'll see in a few weeks how my crusty old T-6 part turns out!

Actually the B-25 Guardian of Freedom was first. Then we did Fuddy Duddy. Up until then all of our experience came from polishing spinners and other bright work. We just completed the B-29 T Square 54 and "Miss Angela" might get polished by us next summer.

What an incredible joy it is to work on these glorious old war birds!!
