Flyable F-106s

Sat Oct 08, 2005 11:01 am

I remember a few months ago that in was reported in Air Classics that out west there were four F-106's being restored to airworthy. I think two A models and two B models. Anyone know anything more about this?

The "Six" is an awesome bird and my personal favorite turbine warbird.

The following is great site dedicated to the 106 by Pat. His inventory db currently has the following airframes and their disposition.

Of note are the 6 s/n's at the very bottom that do not have a Fate Date. Perhaps these are the 6's in question

I know, the list was little overwhelming so I trimmed it down to the six sixs that I made reference to in that post.

Although the F-106 did serve with the ANG , actually "Dubbya" flew F-102's with the 111th Fighter Interceptor Squadron, Texas ANG, Ellington ANGS.

There were six and are now five El Paso F-106s. I think the plan is to get one flying. They work is being done for the same guy that owns F-100F N26AZ. (He used to own a Convair 990 and McD 220 too.)
