WIXers at Reno

Tue Sep 20, 2011 10:49 pm

I know it has been mentioned several times, about some WIXers who were at Reno this last week, but it tends to get lost in the general discussion about the reasons for Mr. Leeward's crash.

First and foremost, I want to offer my condolences first, to Mr. Leeward's family, on his tragic loss.

The same feeling is true, for those who perished as a result of the crash. My heart goes out to those injured, wishing them a prompt recovery; my thoughts go to their relatives and loved ones, also wishing that they will come stronger from this time of trial.

But, closer to home, I want to express my relief, when I have read from several WIXers who have reported in, and who are more or less, unscathed by this tragedy.

You guys are part of our extended disfunctional aviation family here, and I for one, am glad that you are here, sharing your experiences of that sad day.

Glad to have y'all back, hear?

Saludos!

Ditto, and well said. It was a relief when August, and many others checked in. One of the fellows with a hangar right behind the FBO I hang out at was back today, and even though we're not really close friends, it was a big relief to see him back.

Cousin Darrell??

I don't know about him, but Ron and Terry went. I was at the fuel pumps with 'em when they were discussing when they'd arrive, etc...

Don't think Darreyl or his brother Darreyl were there. RV Ron and T-6 TA were there. Ron wasn't there Friday, but his box seats were in the near vicinity.

Seeing friends return safe and sound is good... Shot this on their approach today.

Standing in the pits at the fenceline -same spot, right in the alley between the Voodoo Strega area and the beechcraft display. Really feeling like I dodged a bullet here. I'm upset about this and not feeling too good. Not injured. My friends and I know how lucky we are to be alive. From pull up to over our heads was bout 1.5-2 seconds. We know, anything that had come our way I wouldn't be writing this. Deeply mourning those lost as well.

Glad to hear everyone is okay also, definitely a brutal event to witness.

@ Ryan, was that T-6 you posted at the show, if so, I definitely missed it?
