That P -40M was just a project in pieces before bob Sturges sold it to Tom Camp. Sorry but keep trying. BTW Yes it is Salem, OR. Salem Aviation went out of business over 25 years ago.

N151U when owned by Tom Camp. Shortly after the rebuild in 1973!

I'll guess AL152, just because we're running out of options!

Okay smarty-pants.... which one is it? :D

Any further guessing seems like it would be simply grasping at straws. One P-40 begins to look like most any other at this point, so spill the beans Maestro!

Cheers,
Richard

The wixers finally brought to their knees. If ya'll would have started at the top of the list you'd have been there by now!
AK899 N9837A owned by David T./MARC and flown by Bud Granley in a few shows in the northwest in 1978-79 or so. Now with Richard Hansen and for sale through Courtesy.

Did the plane receive any military insignia at the time, or was it flown bare as per the first photo?

Just US insignias. Look very closely under the right wing. Bud put on a h*ll of a show with it up at Bellingham one year in a rat race with Bob Guilford (Blue Max), Jerry Janes (Cottonmouth) and Ross Grady (What's Up Doc?" plus a great acro display. But, it defently didn't have the quality restoration has it does now. I'll look for some more photos.

I really love these "mystery warbird" puzzles. Thanks for posting Jack! Any more?
