Hello,

Do you know the model of propeller which is installed on the F2G?
Is the blade is the same of an F4U-5 model?

I don't find information on the Pratt & Whtiney R-2800 history book and the R-4360 Parts Catalogue.

Thanks a lot.

I checked with my dad, who was a prop man on F4U-4's and -5's in the USMC in 1947-'48. He said:

"I only worked on-4's and 5-'s but I saw an F2G in Cleveland in 1947 after Cook Cleland won the race in it. It appeared identical to the Hamilton-Standard ModelĀ 24-E-60 model used on our planes. Other F2G pictures confirm the ID."

From the Pilot's Handbook, AN01-195FA-1

F2G-1 14 Ft. Dia. Hamilton Hydromatic

F2G-2 13 Ft., 7in Hamilton Super-hydromatic.

Both were -4- bladed propellers.

The propellers for #74 and #94 were thinned-out and shot peaned for racing.

Cook modified his race planes with longer blades.
I don't remember what they were off of. On take
off and at landing the planes had to be landed with
the tail down to keep the prop out of the runway.
