Warbird Information Exchange

I have had this panel from an aircraft for about ten years no. A friend gave it to me and he also had an engine accessory panel to one of the nacelles on a B-29. He kept that one. I've looked at some B-29 pics and I don't think the one I have (photos below) is a B-29 part.

Can anybody help me Identify it?
It's 17 x 16 inches, with fasteners all around the edges. Three raised ridges in the middle of the outside section are spot welded to the basic unit. There is a number on the back and it is stamped "739" and then next to that is a sideways "4".
Any ideas?

A couple thoughts-
739 could be an aircraft number. Might relate to a S/N of the A/C but could be the 739th of that component (wing, fus section, ect.) built on this contract. P-51 wings were numbered and stamped in the landing gear trunion and ammo doors in this fashion.
4 could be #4 engine area.
The shape suggests it was an internal cover rather than in the airflow but that is speculation on my part.

It's a B-29 panel that fits inside the intake duct for access to the bottom of the engine.

I thought it might be a B-29 panel, but I couldn't see where it would've gone on the outside. The recess would make it not very aerodynamic!

You have to take another panel off to see it. It's actually on the top side of the intake duct. Pull it off and you have the engine's rear oil sump right there.
