I saw a couple go through MOD auction a couple of years ago, from in their store at Stafford. The big problem is the tractor pull guys are making good ones harder to find. :(

Those pics I posted were taken a few weeks back in our store... the grainy state of the images is because I was using a rather poor camera.

At the Mustang 50th in Santa Maria, CA, Skip Holms loaded his family up and flew her home with his wife in the back holding his daughter and Skip had his son in his lap. Do you have any more, plz???

Been a while since anything new was happening.
P-51 under annual-
Been there, done that. A side Mag is out for a bench check.
Image
Since it is close to Christmas I opened a box from Canada here for the Spitfire.
Image
In it is a set of Griffon Fingers that Dave Walker has replaced the lobes that the cam pushes against with a carbide insert.
Image
Image
These came from a set of Cam racks that were overhauled by Rolls Royce in the 80s.
I opened the top of the Griffon A bank and all looks good with the stock fingers installed so I will get the improved fingers installed now.

Image
It is also time to start the 1st 50 hour inspection on the Spifire so I will keep you updated on that.

Fascinating piece on the Shackleton QEC. I found a photo of the Shackleton MR3 the cowlings likely came from. It surely has traveled some, if it's the same piece originally installed on the aircraft, as this image was taken on Christmas Island by George Trussell in June, 1959, when the aircraft was serving with 201 Squadron.

Washed half of western TX out of the QEC from the Shackelton-
Looking to trade for 1340 core/parts, Griffon core/parts, P-51/T-6 parts.
This would make a great display. Nearly Complete ShackQEC shell including engine mounts and cowling with exhaust collector and outlet pipes.
All pieces of cowling are there. There is a couple of bumps in 2 pieces. In original paint.

I recently installed new bushings in the Griffon Fingers. I'm waiting on Roush to finish up repairs on a set of cam rails so the ID can be honed to match.

Wing Spar Panel, notice the silver paint. This is original where it sat on the spar.-

A while back someone asked about Spitfire part numbers. Here is the number on this panel.
Image
It reads 39408 7 4. The 394 is the model number of the MkXVIII. 08 is the wing structure.
74 is the drawing number specific to this part.
Parts begin with the model it originally was made for. If a newer model needed it redesigned or it was created new for that model the 1st 3 digits reflect that.
The MkXVIII some parts on it labeled 300. No changes were needed on that part since the MK1 came along.

The T6-G has a repaired wing tip from a past ding that just doesn't line up.
Image
There was another dinged one around so I took it apart and beat it back straight.

When done it fit much better-
