I was just looking over the Corsair registry which Scott just updated. I guess I was surprised how many Corsairs are currently listed as being in restoration. Can anyone bring us uptodate with a status of those restorations?

Well 92460 aka the Sikorsky Memorial Corsair aka FAS 217 is well under way to the mid point of her static restoration.
I know a lot of guys don't like the idea were not going to fly her but that's not why she was brought to Bridgeport 43 years ago.
We are indebted to Nelson, Chad and Howard for the efforts Breckenridge has put forth to help us out.
In addition we have both wings being torn down and stripped, we are rebuilding the gun bay doors etc.
I am posting a few shots as they speak for themselves.

I'd have to align myself with those who don't have a problem it's not going to fly. My hat is off to you guys for saving it from the pole.

Do you have any before and after shots of the spar corrosion repairs? Corsair is the only warbird I actually worked on so I really love them. Having said that anyone have a pic of the ex Ray Adams' F4U? I think is also an ongoing static rebuild with a new owner now?

F4U Restorations Folks:

Ray Adams X F4U has been an elusive aircraft for awhile. Very few pics exist of this former FAH aircraft, Buno 97382, FAH 611 since its landing accident at SPS c. April 1974 or during its restoration/storage time in the U.S. I'm glad to see it emerging as a static display aircraft!

Isn't its destination .....IS to go back on the pole?

Absolutely not. 92460 will not be going back on the pole.
92460 will be placed in the Historic 1929 Curtiss Hanger that needs to be restored. (I'm working on that as well)

Anyone who cares to donate 20,000 Liner Feet of 2x6 with a 9/16 tongue & grove for the roof, well it would be greatly appreciated. We also need about 1250 panes of Plexiglas at about $5.00 a pane. We need 10,000sq ft (10 squares) of EPDM rubber roofing (around $120,000) Anyone who has a friend in the industry such as a lumber yard or acrylic or glass company that wants to beg on our behalf, let me know cause we could use the assistance.

We are currently sourcing a replica to mount on the pole. Our first attempt met with less than positive results but were still working on putting another deal together.

The one thing I have learned about vintage aircraft is, you have to have some place to park them and it isn't usually cheap,
