Folks,
Over on AAFO they are trying to get some funds and manpower to help Larry Cruz and another victim. Larry was injured as a spectator in the Reno crash. He also has a company that overhauls Prop Governors, one of his is on Bald Eagle today.
They are working to make improvements to his home and winterize the property of another victim who lost his life. Larry is scheduled to return home around Nov 13th and lives in Washington State. Anyone that can volunteer some time in the area would be great. Others can help with a donation.
Contact is Sandra and her details are at the bottom of this copied post.

Help me and the Family Assistance Fund help Larry and Tracy. Larry will be going home from the hospital on Nov. 13th.

We're also helping another woman, who lost her husband at Stead. She has 10 acres and needs help with work on the property.

Very quickly, here's what we know we need:
Materials to complete enlargement and refitting of the bathroom to make it accessible for Larry.
The bathroom work means removing the current wall between the master bedroom and bathroom, so materials will be needed to repair the master bedroom.
Materials for wheelchair ramp.
A couple of people with construction skills.
A couple of people to help split rounds of wood for the winter.
Someone with tractor driving skills to help with the 10 acre property.
A couple more folks to help with labor as Larry's property and the other property need "winterizing." Not sure what that entails yet.

A call is in to Home Depot's corporate office to see if they will approve the donation of materials.

If you can help with getting materials donated, that will help greatly.

Tracy's brother, who is a contractor, is taking time off from his job without pay. We need donations to cover whatever material we can't get donated, and to help replace some of Tracy's brother's lost wages.

I also need someone in Washington to help me coordinate this so Tracy doesn't get inundated with calls.

If you can help out in any way, please let me know.

Thanks, everyone.
Sandra

More info-

From this AAFO post-
http://www.aafo.com/hangartalk/showthread.php?t=9576

Hey everyone,

I spoke with Tracy Cruz. She and Larry are the family in Washington. They live in Graham. She tells me that Larry is due to be home on November 13th.

Tracy's brother is a contractor, so he's drawn up the plans. Here's what they're doing:

Her brother is going to start demolition on the bathroom this coming Wednesday. They are going to enlarge the bathroom by 3ft, and enlarge the entry into the bathroom. They're going to need some items for the bathroom, to make it easier for Larry to shower, etc. They're also planning to build a ramp for Larry's use until he can get rid of the wheelchair.

Tracy tells me that more than manpower, they need materials or the money to cover the materials. Tracy's brother is taking unpaid leave from his job to try to get this done. He anticipates 72 hours to do it all. If we have a couple of people who can help do the work, that will cut down on the money he will lose while working at Larry's. Also, if you can donate, so we can try to make up some of his lost wages that would help also.

A call is in to Home Depot Corporate to ask their permission for a local store to donate materials. If you know anyone at a local Home Depot there that can call from that end, or someone else in the business that can help by donating material, please give them a call and let me know how it goes.

Think Kindness is going to do its best to cover whatever needs to be bought, but obviously, if we can get it donated, the funds will go further and help more families.

Next, Tracy says her friend in the box seats next to them lost her husband at the airport. Their 16-year old son is trying to step up and do everything. She hasn't been willing to ask for help from "strangers." Apparently Larry has also said he doesn't want "strangers" in the house touching his stuff. lol As Tracy and I discussed, we're not strangers.

Anyway, Tracy's friend has 10 acres and needs help related to the property. Anybody know how to drive a tractor?

I understand she also needs help getting some wood in. At a minimum, Tracy says she has the wood, but the rounds need splitting and then the wood needs to be delivered the six miles down the road to the friend.

If you can help or can help me coordinate this so Tracy's not inundated with calls, drop me a PM or an email.

Thanks, everyone.

Sandra sent me an email about donation methods available-

Hi Rich,

Yeah, they can donate online. If they specifically want it to go towards helping Larry and Tracy, then in PayPal there's a box where they can specify that.

If they want to mail checks, the address for Fund is there, as is the Wells Fargo Bank info for wire transfers. They can also take that info, go into any Wells Fargo Bank and make a donation.

If they have any questions, they can certainly email or call me.

Hope that helps.

All the best,
Sandra

Anybody in Washington State?

From Sandra on AAFO-
--------------------

I agree, Wayne, Larry's amazing. And after talking to Tracy, I know he married the right woman. She's as upbeat and determined as he is.

Okay, this is where I start stamping my foot.

<beginning of frustrated rant> I know somebody must live in Washington State besides Betty. I'm not asking for your entire life or your first born child. I'm asking for a day or two of your time and muscle. That's it, that's all.

Make a few phone calls for me. Ask your friends, explain what we need. I'd bet more than a few of you talented folks spend time at Lowe's or Home Depot. Call them up, tell what we need, see if they're willing to donate some materials.

I don't want Tracy worrying about this getting done before Larry comes home in the 10-14 days. I don't want lack of material or help to be an obstacle to finishing the work.

Remember, they don't currently have an income, with Larry unable to be in the shop. Tracy's brother can't absorb all the costs. If all you can manage is to donate $2.00-$3.00 and specify that it goes to the Larry and Tracy, between all of us, we can make this happen.

I refuse to go back to Tracy and tell her we failed. Don't sit there and assume that someone else will pitch in. It's not happening.

</end of frustrated rant>

I don't have much available free time before the 13th but could possibly offer some muscle and mediocre construction skills. I'm in contact with some friends as well.

I was glad to hear from my friend who visited Larry last night that Home Depot stepped up and donated most of the materials and Think Kindness is covering the rest.
