With the closing of Pate, the aircraft reverted to their actual owner, which in the case of the USAF aircraft is the National Museum of the US Air Force. We were offered both the H-21 and the F-101 for loan to our collection. NMUSAF also offered us the H-21 that was at Wings Over the Rockies, which was in much better condition, so we took that. It is now on display. We already had an F-101 at our restoration center in Marana, AZ, so we passed on the one at Pate. Not sure who got the C-119, but that is certainly one that is high on our wish list!

Stewart, Nice to have you onboard the WIX. Thanks for your update. BTW, how are the plans coming along to bring the Connie from Montana to McMinnville?

She's looking good! Great job CG Folks! Lots of hard work to get her cleaned up, buttoned up tight and repainted. :D

The interior was fairly complete, some instruments missing from the cockpit, but probably 85% there, including radar operator station, seats in the back, static jump-line, "bathroom"!

Does anyone know where the Pate C-119 has gone or if it is still there?

Do you want to find locations of displayed, stored or active aircraft? Then start with the The Locator.
Do you want to find or contribute to the documented history of an aircraft? If so then start with the Airframes Database.

Hi Mike,

Last I heard the Marine Corps is getting it, not 100% sure where it's going to end up though. I should be up there Sunday so I'll be able to tell you if she's still there at that time.

Here are some shots of the closed Pate Museum C-119 yesterday afternoon. Looks like someone was doing something to the aircraft recently judging by the scaffolds? I hope the missing engine panels are inside the aircraft. The port rudder is only hanging on with a strap...

There was an HU-16 on a small ramp at the south end of the airport at Florence, SC, a year or so ago. You can see it on Bing Maps. It's minus engines and some control surfaces, but otherwise looks intact.

That Albatross is still at the Florence Regional airport, and used to be in the museum's collection located at the airport. My dad bought it in 1998 If i remember, and was in the process of restoring it when he died in 2000. All missing parts are currently warehoused.

Drove by Pate today...the Horizontal is now off of the C-119.

I noticed that the Piasecki is gone as well as the Deck Gun and the Minesweeper. Wonder where they have all gone?

Thanks for the Pate update Zane. I heard that Tyler might be getting the H-21. I'll check my contact there and see if it's out in east Texas.

Was the C-119 stab sitting on the ground or gone?!

I didn't see the parts anywhere...but they have lots of room in the airplane...figured that's where it was.

Maybe I can be of some assistance on this topic. My name is Wil, and this will be my first post on the forum, though Ive been lurking for awhile. I am assisting in the dismantling of the C-119. It is moving to the Granbury Veterans Museum and will be restored and displayed as a walkthrough exhibit. I'll be out there today and will take a bunch of photos of the exterior and interior and put them up for you guys.
