All the basics for a great static display!
Even though she was born with a US serial number she went to the RAF shortly after rolling off the line. All of her wartime life was with RAF.

If she does get restored hopefully she'll be finished in one of her original schemes.

Isn't this one of the DC-3's that were scrapped out at Tradewinds in San Antonio? I walked up and looked around it. It looked to be in rough shape. I assumed that it had been scrapped by now. Did someone save it?

As of two years ago it was still at Tradewinds.... looked at it closely and it is shot with corrosion and the mess of various critters living inside of it. A sad end to a grand old bird.

definetely needs a face lift!!! i remember the m.a.p.s. museum having a non flyer c -47 awaiting restoration from when i was a member, is it restored yet??

I stopped by Tradewinds Saturday to see if this plane was still there. It was scrapped a few months ago, so nothing remains of this one. Not much left out there at all.

Not much left of her anyway by the photos I've seen.
Obviously if anyone had wanted or needed her she would not have ended up the way she did.
