Hi All,

Well I found something again and I'm totally stumped on this one. Has no part numbers and looks to be skin. It has some very interesting reinforcing structure attached to it which may help identify it.

Does anyone have any idea where this part would be located on an aircraft?

Thanks everyone

Any other photos, dimensions, colors or context, i.e. where was it found etc.? As is it could be off almost any aircraft made with aluminum skin in the past 80 years.

Nice ballpeen and rock riveting technique, looks like a bunch poorly done 1/8th inch rivets and tons of 'bonus holes'
And, where did you find it? and when? without some context it's just a piece of indeterminate scrap metal

Hi All,

Scrap metal you say? Hmm. You seemed to be able to tell me quite a bit about the riveting technique, thank you. Would this technique help to provide information on which nation may have manufactured this piece?

Context: I located it about a mile from where I found another piece posted here last week which turned out to be internal skin from a B-25 so this could also be from a B-25. There were no other pieces around at all. Just this piece. Piece measures about 2 ft in length.

I was wondering where on an aircraft this type of bracing would be found. It has a distinct curve to it and should I think prove crucial to determining what this piece is from. Would the bracing be found internally or externally?

Thank you

Upper engine nacelle on a multi-engined aircraft?

If it's not a secret, a general location would help. That way we can exclude a lot of aircraft.

That's what I was getting at, if you could possibly pin down the place on this nasty rock we live on as to where you located this particular example of electrically treated bauxite and copper and zinc, it would go a long way towards allowing us to be of more assistance in fulfilling your quest.
