As a long term Buchon follower, a little birdie nudged me that Hispano Buchon D-FMSV is up for sale - anyone know any more?

This was one of three that attended this year's Flying Legends show, obviously (given the reggo) from Germany.

It looked magnificent at Flying Legends this year .....

I would love to see it come stay in England for a while ~ it would give all the Spitfire something to play with at air shows

Nothing to do with it but is there any Buchon painted with Spanish colors?

There are a few in museums in Spain...one at the Kalamazoo Air Zoo in the United States. But to my knowledge none of the flyable examples are.

The three that were at Legends this year are the only flyable examples (unless you count the re-engined ones in Germany and Vormezeele's one in Belgium which is not flown) and all these are in pseudo-Luftwaffe markings.

This one was for sale for many years when it was based in California, interesting that it has come back on the market again within a few months of being sold.

Time for the FIO to start rattling the donations tin again? It certainly would look good in Spanish colours!

Not doubting the airworthiness of the plane but, when did it fly last? And what about Tillamook's for that matter?

Working from memory, there's one in the Spanish Air Force Museum in original colours, and yes, no flyers. The call of the near-Luftwaffe seems irresistible to owners. The Kalamazoo example is actually a reconfigured example in part-Battle of Britain film configuration, part reconstructed original layout, in an overall blue Spanish scheme.

Additionally, the Musee de l'Air at le Bourget has one in Spanish scheme, as does the Canadian Air, Space & Infinity Museum at Rockliffe (in store, last I saw).

So Spanish colours; one each France, Canada, USA, and Spain.

Regards,

I'll take it! Oh wait, they'll be wanting money, won't they.....?

Seriously though. I was very surprised to see Harold Kindsvater(?) sell her abroad in the first place as everything I read saw him very pleased with the aircraft, and now to see it offered again so soon...I hope it finds a good home. And to be honest, with the new spinner and propeller I'd much rather see this one stay as a Luftwaffe 109.

It's real simple, if you want to get booked for shows and get attention, you decorate it as what will sell. Plane and Simple.

I'm sure I'm opening a can of worms here but what is the general consensus on the price 2mil euros...

What would really be cool would be to see a reunion of all the BOB & Tora Birds at one event. Maybe even get a few Kelly's Heroes Tigers :) Do a movie weekend , top it off with the Flight of the Phoenix fly by.

So your advice is to polish it up to a mirror finish and plaster it with Red Bull logos? Just askin'........... 8)

Nah, he's simply stating what's already evident...that it's easier to help pay for operation of a costly warbird like the Buchon by painting it as its cousin the Bf109; a 109 in an airshow lineup is a big deal, whereas a Hispano 1112 is a "huh? what's that?". Have to say the ex-Kindsvater Buchon does look grand in Luftwaffe finish.

I think it'd be fun to paint a Buchon as one of the Israeli Avia C.210s...
