I was reading an AAHS article on transatlantic PB2Y Coronados (USN and RAF) and noted that there was frequent comment of both using Botwood, Newfoundland as a stopping point. I pulled up Botwood on Google.earth and found the former seaplane base / ramp and noted what appears to be static PBY on display. Can anyone add info about its S/N, flying boat or amphibian or possibly a crisp ground level photo ? I've attached the g.e image below.

Google is your friend! A simple image search will yield many photos of said PBY like the one at the link below.

Mark:

The AAHS is the American Aviation Historical Society and they publish a very high quality quarterly journal of very well researched topics. The referenced article "Transatlantic Coronados" by Peter Berry was published in the Summer 2002 edition, pp 108 -111. The website is http://www.aahs-online.org BTW, the AAHS was founded by the famous aviation photographer W.T. (Bill) Larkins.

If you choose I'll send you a snail mail copy of the article. Contact me at vossj@comcast.net and it will be in the mail today.
