beautiful museum. Sharp designs.., this thread reminded me of a question I had..in regards to Italy.

I was looking for info on an F-104 that was up on a poll off the main streets on the Lido, Venice in August 2006. She was very complete.., and on a short poll, so you could walk up to her and touch her.

Not sure if she was just up there for the film festival.., google earth shows nothing., she looked similar markings/paint job to this

They seem to have a lot of them.., at least in 2008.

51-01 would be Istrana,Treviso, from the condition the airframe is in you can't tell whether it's a G,an S or an ASA of some kind. Also, yes, there are a lot of them around, nearly all of them were sawed into three pieces and then resoldered together, they are now some ten inches shorter and will never fly again, the official excuse was compliance to SALT,and nobody had ever asked the military to do that.
Some years ago (2007) I begged for a tour to Grazzanise (last operational F 104 airbase in Italy) to a (then) active lieutenant colonel in AMI,permission was denied, then they brought in coachloads of non Italian nationals from all over the world, indeed.
I hate our military,I PAID FOR THE AIRCRAFT,they are my property, rather than the MOD's.

Yes, our military is doing the same "Bull Sh it" (merde) to our F-105's here:

I had followed the thread about the F 105s at Lackland, more or less destroyed to avoid Collings Foundation having one,or just some spares.
On the theme of Italian Starfighters, does anybody know what exactly the Starfighters demo team is trying to obtain ?
I suspect that they are ex Italian TF 104 G/M or,maybe, the F 104 F we bought from Germany as attrition replacements, they were not hacked off, official excuse is they were trainers,WRONG the TFs were combat capable, had radars and hardpoints, the ex German Fs were pure trainers.
Any info ?Grazie.
