My copy was sitting waiting for me when I got home this evening. A great souvenir of a fantastic few days - I doubt we'll ever see an event like it again. Some superb photography (over 260 large format pages, almost all in colour) and it was good to see that they gave extensive coverage to the 'Legends' (a page on each) as well as the 'Mustangs' and other airshow performers. All in all a great effort, but rather let down by sloppy research on the histories of the P-51s (I've already noticed numerous errors in just a cursory flick-through) and captioning (for example, a shot of Weeks in the cockpit of his P-51C, wearing a Campbell helmet and modern flight suit, is captioned 'The Gathering of Mustangs and Legends was accented by authentic uniforms and aviation paraphernalia from the War'). I can understand such sloppy work if the book had been a rush-job, but with over 4 years to get it right, they could (and should) have done better.

So all in all a great reminder of the event, containing some excellent photography, but let down by sloppy text research and poor editing and proof-reading. A triumph of presentation over content!

Nowhere in any of the discussions of this book does anyone mention the cost. Can someone fill me in?

Walt

I volunteered for 9 days on that event and it certainly remains a highlight in my aviation life.
But...4 years to get a book together...the pictures should be awesome...expecting great things.
Sorry to heaar about the sloppy research/editing.

Those of you who have received your copy... How did it arrive? By USPS or UPS or how?

I'm still waiting for mine and I'm IN Florida. Don't know what the holdup is!

Thanks

Greg

Besides the first review, can anyone else comment on whether they like this book or not, wasn't there, but thinking of getting? TX in advance.

Still irked about my book. Got home around 3:30 PM and got my mail at the end of my driveway, I live about 100 yards off the road. The next morning at 6:00 AM as I was going to work I noticed something under my mail box, it sits on a post. It was my book, thank god it was wapped in plastic and in a plastic bag because it rained that night. Lucky that I live on a quiet road.

Oh yeah, it is a Christmas gift from my wife and she says the cardboard isn't wet so I can't check for damage until the 25th.

Rumor has it that they didn't expect such a tremendous response and that they had to order more copies to be printed. Just what I heard :drinkers:

Mine arrived yesterday, its worth the wait as no one will ever see a greater event than GML 2007. Now they need to work on all of the ledgends interviews given and put them on a double DVD...
