What are those things on the wingtips?

Those are outboard wing tip fuel tanks. Like the outboard wing tip fuel tanks on the super connies.

You don't see it out in the open that much. Good Capture!

I was lucky enough to be down at Frank Stricklers place in Denton, TX several years back. Lindseys son was down to fly this plane and it was when it was still in the red and white scheme it had been in for so long. While we were talking to him, he remarked that this plane had been in the family longer than he had! You are right, it is beautiful! Tailwinds, Steve.

Are there 'inboard' wingtip fuel tanks??
Fri Oct 21, 2005 11:09 pm
Randy Haskin,
No, I don't think there would be inboard wing tip tanks. If so that would be really odd.
Maybe I was confusing when I said "outboard". I didn't mean to suggest there were inboards. I have always called those wing tip tanks "outboard wing tip tanks" because they are outboard to the tanks in the wings. Just a habit.

Those are inboard, outboard, upper, lower, full, empty tanks....
I think this is a neat machine... glad we still have a full blown Cavalier flying.
Here is my shot taken a few years back....
