I am guessing it is a PV-1...
From the local paper's travel section. Taken in 2011 on New Britian. Anyone know what the Bu # is for this bird?

This is Ventura NZ4522, a G.R.V Ventura (US Navy PV-1) serial number 5535, BuNo34645 that crashed where it lays at Talasea, New Britain during the war. Quite the story behind this aircraft and how it got here! Parts from this wreck were used in the restoration of Ventura NZ4600 (RB-34 serial number 4773, 41-38117) that is now housed at the MOTAT in Auckland.
You can find surviving Ventura's at our website www.rcafventura.ca .
