Depends, I always thought the journey was a major part of the total package. I'd rather explain to another modeller how I had to '#######' the '******' and trim both ends of '^^^^^^' and dig in the spares cabinet to find two spare &&& to make that using some filler, than admit 'damfino'. It's kind of like building your own street rod or dialing 1-800 BUY AROD. Comes from being really Aulde Skool and pride in craftsmanship.

i used to be like that....then i relised soething...I suck at it! :( :) but all jokes aside i got nothing but resepct for the people that have the skills to do models like that.

:drink3:

(still looking for one, :drinkers: )

The USAF took a really long, hard look @ adapting those lugs to accept AIM 9 TER's (for a total of 6 A2A missiles) for self defense, which would have made them the worlds biggest fighter.

Based on how AIM-9s work in terms of range, targeting, etc, that would have been a massive waste of time and money!

Still you have got to wonder why the USAF hasn't put KC-135R engines on the E-3 fleet?

The money allocated to the E-3 is being used to upgrade the avionics, which is still phenomenally out of date. Just a matter of priorities in an era of budgets that are shrinking by the day.

The look @ installing AIM 9's was back in 1979/1980.

They kicked around putting a couple of Sidewinders on the P-3 at one point too. We all just laughed.
