B-29 FiFi coming to Tico 2012 airshow

VAC just announced that the CAF B-29 will be coming to Titusville for 2012 Tico Airshow. Other planes scheduled to be at the show include a P-47, P-40, 2 P-51 and up to 6 B-25s.

Should be a great show.

I asuume at the least they'll stay out of the Gulf? It's the shortest route but I'd think the crew wouldn't want to be too far away from land just in case they need to put her down quickly for some reason?
As for me, I'm just hoping someday she'll be back to Boeing field. I haven't seen her since I think 1991...

It sure does! I have been going since '84 and have been pretty disappointed in recent years. Last year was one of the best ones they have had in quite a few years. This year sounds to be even better. Can't wait to see FIFI. I am volunteering for the VAC doing photography. So hopefully I'll get some good ones! FIFI will also be at Sun n Fun per their website.

My parents live in Punta Gorda, about ten minutes from the airport. I just sent my Dad an email to let him know FIFI's going to be there. Hopefully they'll feel up to driving out there to see her. With their health deteriorating fairly quickly, they may not have many more opportunities.

Back in the mid 1980s, FIFI and Diamond Lil were on an east coast tour and they stopped at Millville, NJ. Dad, Mom, and I piled into Dad's old Cherokee 140 and made the short flight from New Castle, DE, to see the bombers. My folks hadn't seen a "live" B-24 or B-29 since WW2, and I had only seen the "inert" examples displayed at NMUSAF, so it was quite a thrill. I still have the little 2" metal "B-29 Donor" pinback button that I received that day. Good memories!

It's really great to see FIFI "out and about" after being "down and out" for so many years!

B-24 will be entering winter maintenance when "FIFI" departs for Florida. We decided to focus on the maintenance of one aircraft at a time this year.

We are in discussions with several operators to bring along additional aircraft.
