What would u want to see?

No matter what our theme or theme aircraft might be, what special aircraft would you like to see at next years Thunder show?

Mon Oct 24, 2005 6:54 pm

One of the new Me 262's... definately.

Mon Oct 24, 2005 6:55 pm

I'd like to see the Swordfish from CWHM.

Hi again Michael--

Given the other post (and another one from a while ago that made me raise both eyebrows pretty far too), the following suggestions may be suitable...dreaming large, in some cases, and in no particular order:

Jim Smith's Seafire 47
Fireflies--Eddie Kurdziel's and CWH's, together
Bob Spence's Swordfish
CWH's Lysander
Hurricanes--Ed Russell's and Jerry Yagen's
Spitfires--as many as can be brought together...how about Bob Jens' Mk.XIV, a former Cleveland racer no less, from BC?
CWH's Lancaster and CAF's Shackleton, together
Furies--as many as possible (bet you're all surprised I said that  )...but perhaps most particularly Chuck Greenhill's T20 with the Centaurus engine and David Peeler's lovely RN-painted FB10
Hunters, Vamps, Venoms etc. for the "blowtorch" fans

As can be guessed I think a "British Invasion" theme would be cool.

Talking of trucking things in...hm...how about the ex-Fisk Seafire XV to stand at one end of a lineup of Spits?

And Steve T takes two more bites of the apple...

Michael--

I second the nomination of the 262. Forgot to mention it. An absolute guaranteed showstopper. Maybe a return appearance by Mr Russell's 109E alongside; and there must still be a Buchon or two around (Kalamazoo's, maybe, on static??) And, oh, maybe a FlugWerk Fw190...

Talking again of trucking things in...how about F2G #74 displayed "in progress" next to the completed #57? (Racers are another appealing theme--the four racers present a few years ago absolutely stole the show.)

I would love to see a gathering of some of the major airplanes in the Pacific.

F4U, F4F, F6F, SBD, TBF, A6M, P-40, C-46, C-47, B-24, and the Tora Tora Tora group.

Harold Kindsvater's in California (although that is for sale) and the CAF recently got one flying again.

F4U, F4F, F6F, SBD, TBF, A6M, P-40, C-46, C-47, B-24, and the Tora Tora Tora group.

I'll go along with that group, as far as it goes, but how could you leave out the P-38?

Mudge the Lightning fan

ps. If the Tora, Tora, Tora group is that large fireball thing, they can stay home as far as I'm concerned. Big "to do" with no appreciable value if you ask me.

British aircraft gathering. Especially Spitfires, Hurricanes, Sea Furies, Lancaster, Fireflies, Seafires, Vampire/Venom, Hunter .....

My idea is probably too expensive but here it goes! How about combining the last few years themes of the B-17's, TBM's, B-25's, and including the British theme as well as including the PTO, and MTO areas of operations so you could honor even more veterans. I know the show honors veterans anyways but could honor them even more! You could even get some flight demonstrations such as Dale Snodgrass' F4U Corsair Demo which was supposed to be their in 2004, Howard Pardue's F8F, Reg Urschler's P-51 Demo, Herb & Ditto, among others.

or

Possible doing a large gathering of transports C-47, C-45, C-46, C-121, Martin 4O4. Aircraft could be painted in boht military and civilian colors!

P-38! I knew I forgot a major airplane in my list.

The only reason I included the Tora Tora Tora group in my list, was for the fighters to have something else to shoot at besides the Zeros, in a mock dogfight!

If you start with the ME 262 why not do a jet show that progresses forward? Rich Sugden's Fury, F100, T2, CF TA-4, T-33, F-4, Hunters, Jet Provost, etc.... It would be a great lineup ! :D

I like the British theme you are starting with. Steve Tournay had some good suggestions. Of course the Me-262 would be a real thrill to see again.

the fuel bill

I think staying on track with the Brit theme would be great, Isn't there a F6F-3 painted up in Roy-Nav colours? That seems like it would need to be there. And would about any FM-2 / F4Fs

I do really like the idea of a few Axis aircraft into the mix, Love the 262 idea. And maybe a Zero. If we're dreaming that is. :D

Personally, I like variety. If you're going to have a lot of airplanes in one place, get as many types as you can. Themes are nice---and God knows I liked the B-17s----but that is a lot of money to spend. Money that could be used to bring in a lot of other birds. I like to see the field sprinkled with everything from a FEW Texans to a FEW bombers.
But that's just my opinion. I'll be there no matter what you bring in :)
