I have been in touch with the Squadron as a result of my embroidering the Yellow Rose Nose Art Hats. I've been told that we will bringing the Rose to Dayton for the upcoming 70th Doolittle Raiders Reunion this coming April.

I still have 9 hats here that have the nose art alread embroidered. If your planning a trip for the Reunion why not help the Rose buy purchasing a hat in advance of the Reunion.

I will continue to personal the back of the hat with a name. I am sure they would be happy to see you show up at the Rose with one of their hats on.

The cost is $17.50 shipped. For all they new members of WIX, how about your support.

Send me a private message with your email address and I'll send you an invoice thru paypal with no additional charge to you.

As maintenance officer for the Yellow Rose, I can confirm that we are PLANNING to be there for the reunion. However, we still have to perform the tests required for the landing gear mandatory service bulletin before we can commit to the trip. Right now, I know that 6 of 13 B-25's that have reported in have had cracked gear. That is not a good percentage... We plan to perform the required tests, and some more that aren't required, this week. We are hoping and praying for good results and I'll announce those results as soon as we have them. Until we have a definitive answer on that subject, the OPS officer cannot commit to anything. We want to know ASAP so we can start booking shows.

We'd like to thanks everyone supporting the Yellow Rose, whether purchasing T-shirts, hats, or just donating what you can. Thanks for your efforts, too, Misterg97.

Ray,

Thanks ... since my last contact with the Squadron, I have sold two more hats. One on Ebay and one here on WIX yesterday.

I'll hold up on sending the money to the Squadron untill later in hopes that I can sell the last 8 that I have here on hand.

Once again, I am embroidering a name on any hat sold by me as an added incentive at no extra charge. Hopefully some of the new members will help support this great cause.

Jerry

Ray (or anyone else that can answer),

How is the availability of parts to be able to repair the landing gear issues on these? Is it safe to say that if cracks are found at this point that those planes won't be back in the air by April?

Thanks!

Greg

My understanding is that parts are available from out west. If the funds are there, then the planes can be repaired without a doubt by then.

OUCH! Both of our landing gear drag links were cracked. They were tested yesterday. Some super-emergency fundraising is underway and the two parts should be shipped late next week. I'm told the replacement is a fairly straightforward process and have two members who have done it before to assist.

The Yellow Rose WILL be in Dayton for the reunion!

With thanks to a number of WIX'ers who purchased the hats, and Mustang Driver who purchased the last 6 for a group ... the personalized Yellow Rose Hats are all gone.

Here's one with the Pinwheel Design that was used prior to the Hap Arnold Wings .. if you watch the movie 30 Seconds over Tokyo, you can see the patch on Van Johnson's shoulder.

Things are looking good for the reunion ... let's hope the weather holds out for both the fly in and the formation over the Memorial ...
