A6M5-52 Zeke

This plane sat in the back yard of a now-defunct museum in Atlanta, GA, for many years. I first saw it in about 1977, and took some photos in 1982-83.

The album is titled A6M3, which is an error on my part with the model #.

The owner resisted efforts to purchase the aircraft for many years, and the plane just sat in the yard gathering corrosion.

I also took a photo of the plane with a Mitsubishi pick-up truck parked next to it, a sort of father-son thing, but alas, I can't find that photo.

The site Preserved Axis Aircraft, lists the following info on the plane:

"The Flying Heritage Collection has acquired this Zeke from World Jet, Inc., in Fort Lauderdale, ex Atlanta Museum, Georgia. Probably captured on Saipan and is the sistership to the Zeke at Planes of Fame. Not airworthy"

I wonder when Paul Allen will get that thing flying. His two seat A6M3 will probably be flying before the A6M5.
