I was kind of hoping that the good news was the "wind vane" Hellcat at JSB Andrews was finally coming inside.

That would be nice. I'm a traditional Guardsmen with the 113th over there and it pains me to drive by that aircraft every single month (for nearly 19 years).

Strange-looking device. Where do you put the glycol in?

Don't worry too much about the Hellcat at Andrews. While it does contain portions of real Hellcat, it also contains fake nonairworthy parts. That Hellcat was constructed specifically to do what it currently does.

I was going to reply with that info, but just to re-enforce/reiterate what Rick is saying, It's mainly a fiberglass almost 100% scale display model. You don't need to worry about it's condition deteriorating. I was able to closely examine it in 2005/2006 when we flew up there for an event with the helicopter. There's very little on it, if anything, that could be used to make it fly.

Doesn't Paul Allen have another Hellcat stored? Does anybody know which one it is?

I was a Yanks in Chino 2 weeks ago, and they have a second one that's in the shop. Does anyone know where that one came from?

To the best of my knowledge Paul Allen/FHC/Vulcan only have one Hellcat. Bu79863
The one on display at Yanks is Bu78645 and I think the one under restoration is picked over remains of Bu08831.
