I thought you guys might get a kick out of this. For a short time in the early 90's the 410th Bomb Group at K.I. Sawyer AFB were allowed to have nose art on their B-52s and KC-135s. I was invited to visit the flight line as part of an art project. Sorry for the poor picture quality but I don't have a scanner. By the way, that's me in Diamond Girl.

What was the stated reason for discontinuing
the practice? Would they have allowed subjects
other than the female form?

I can't say for sure, I know that the artists were not not to paint anything we would call politically incorrect, Rocky and Big Stick were not female forms. Defiantly no nudity. The nose art did not last, so I guess some one high up was offended. I know the crews loved it. One of many bad decisions made to be politically correct.

Are BUFFS at Barksdale still doing it?

I know one of the reserve A-10 squadrons from LA
had gogs teeth on the nose and ladder art not long
ago.
