Another easy one for today although none have proven too tough for the crack warbird lovers here at WIX.

Cheers,

Not sure how to say it without it sounding mean, but she lost all her personality!

That black paint scheme was a nice one and made her really stand out in a crowd.

You are quite right, Dan. It lost personality also from the interior change. As the Black Mustang, the interior was red and black vinyl. The rear seat was a wrap around upholstery affair that reminded one of Elvis' Graceland. If anyone has a pix of that wild interior, plz post.....it's unbelievable!
Thx,
VL

I never managed to see the 51 while in the black colors, so as Vlado says please post a photo of the "pimp my ride" interior if anyone has one.

I always liked the black scheme on McCann's Mustang....but being a former 325th Checkertail P-51 (from what others have told me) I love the new paint! Can anyone confirm if that is the actual scheme it worn in WWII? My Uncle was a 325th pilot, KIA Sept. 15, 1944, so I'm a big ChecKertail fan!

Yes - momentarily. When it was registered it was allocated CF-FUK. Then somebody in the authorities noticed this was not a good idea by which time the next available registration was CF-FUZ.
