Vlado; your 'unusual item' is a pair of airborne lifeboats. Interesting, and now museum fodder I would've thought.

Looks like an Indian roundel on a MiG wing visible in the background as well.

The last rear fuselage at the right end of the row of Migs in the first photo looks a lot like the rear end of an F-84.

As a child of the 70s and 80s, the concept of MiGs in the D-M provokes this immediate response:

It's a small but significant sign of just how far we've come over the past quarter century, though.

Wow - I agree with JDK - those look like the life boats that the SB-29 "Dumbo" aircraft dropped.

Neat pics Vlado. That is weird to see MiGs there! The Dumbo boats are cool too. Probably the last two left that aren't already in a museum somewhere.

On my first trip to D-M...too many years ago to safely remember, there was a Airship gondola and the Bell XV-3 Tiltrotor, the 1955 grandfather of the V-22.
Other trips were then they still had the D-21 drones.

And I did see a bunch of MiGs, but only the old ones were out. I think they still keep the newer ones under wraps for DACT and the foreign technology branch at Wright-Patterson.
