This is the place where the majority of the warbird (aircraft that have survived military service) discussions will take place. Specialized forums may be added in the new future

I thought ASB was a great site when it started. In the last couple of years though I quit going there for all the reasons everyone has mentioned thus far. I get the impression ASB was more of a business venture that didn't work out. Just speculation.

I enjoyed ASB for keeping track of airshows. Once they changed the forum set up I had the same login problems that I see others mentioned and that kept me from visiting as frequently. Sad to see it go.

I agree 100%. The new forums completely turned me off. Please leave these forums as is.

I was very disappointed to see it go, we met alot of really good people through that website also.
The recent changes were not a problem to me, it took a little bit to figure out the login issue, and learn the new system.
But, I finally signed up for Facebook and alot of ASB'ers found me on there. I logged in alot less, no big suprise.
There was lot of money going into things involving ASB in my opinion.
To Sponsor a performers airplane, paint a T-33 with the logo, sponsor airshows, and advertise probably took alot of money.
To produce the quality of video that the Shipley's made was amazing, but I am sure it cost alot of money too.
Maybe there was some funding that was recently lost I dont know.
Deb posted on Facebook that her job ended on Jan 31st, we will miss her updates from "The front"
She also mentioned that Shipley said that the site was backed up, and things can be retrieved upon request.
I dont really know what I would need, I have all of my pictures that I had posted on there.
I am so glad I got to be part of that community, and already miss it.

A couple of years ago I spoke to a coupke of the people working on the ASB site at the Chino Airshow. They really wanted to know what I thought and asked lots of questions. They also said the direction they planned to go was as sort of an on-line TV channel set-up, rather like a cable TV channel. they felt this would have a larger world-wide veiwership than trying to sell and aviation channle concept to pay for veiw groups like DTV and Cable.
That said, soon after they changed the site so much that I couldn't find 90% of the things I went there for. I profess to logging in a LOT less after that. I mean...I should say I wasn't able to log on as much.....I had dropped to checking it a few times a month at the most. It looked like their channel exclusive videos dropped off rather sharply too.
I am wondering if The Horsemen are actually flying more this year...as their listed schedule was only like 6 dates when last I looked at it.
I also agree that as a group we should be posting more about up-coming shows to help each other out!

I went to the "new" Horsemen only website to look around and decided I needed a copy of The Horsemen Cometh DVD so I followed the link to purchase it as was very pleased to find the majority of The Horsemen items on sale. For all of us fiscally conservative types there are some great deals on some nice quality items.

I miss it to

My impression is that it really was meant to be leading into bigger things that just never really developed. They had some great ideas, the cartoon "Mike the Mustang" looked promising to me and Ed's videos were always top notch - they definately could not have been cheap to produce. Maybe it just took Ed and Dan a little more time to reach the same point that Jim Beasley reached earlier on.
On the Horsemen flight team, I would love to see them in person sometime! Actually I would love to talk them into coming to Wendover for our show! On an aside, I am sad that I never got to see them with Jim B.
