Found this interesting information today - When Australia Prime Minister John Curtin died his body was taken home to Western Australia by a C-47 Dak (A65-71) and escorted back to Perth (his home town) on 7 July 1945 by the Spitfires and Boomerangs of 85Sqn (A & B Flights).

85sqn was (by 1945) the only fighter unit based in that part of the country and hence they had the honour of providing the escort over Perth.

Anyone ever found any photos?
