For without WIX, we'd probably all be hanging out at the TIGHAR forum, and every blip on every photograph would look like Amelia! *shudder*

That is a wonderful photo of Amelia. I don't think I have ever seen one of her where she wasn't wearing flying clothes. MAn, Hillary Swank really had the look nailed in the movie.

I was about to ask if TIGHAR was an acronym or someone's name. May I assume that it's the acronym for the above?

When I lived in North Hollywood there was a statue of Amelia across the street from my house. It was a nice daily reminder of the cost of getting where we are, and I wish we had a snowballs hope in hell of finder her and Fred.

I'll admit it would be nice if something difinitive could be found at some point. I suspect however that if it ever does happen it will be found by someone who wasn't looking. As an example, look at the lost german subamarine that came to light in the Gulf of Mexico because someone was out looking for oil.

Well said. And I agree with the other post, if they find them (the general public has sadly forgotten Fred) or the plane someday, it will be by accident. It's a big ocean out there...

You lived in the park? Or that row of apartments next to the YMCA. I rode past her statute on my way to school for a few years...Walter Reed Jr High. Spent a few hours inside the Library behind her as well.

If that is what they want to do, I say let them. Who are we to criticize what they have done or are wanting to do? If anyone of us was footing the bill then of course we could make the decisions. I personally hope they locate what they are looking for. If I could find someone to finance an expedition then I would set about looking for flight 19. Maybe they are saying the things they are saying and name dropping to keep the funding coming in. Anyone of us who where able to and had the funding would make the time to go Warbird hunting. :drink3: :drink3: :drink3:
