Just imagine what a formation of these two birds would look like today. Black and chrome anybody? (I know, technically it's not "chrome".)

Cool :D But you need to add the prop's spinning on the Red Bull P-38 and then you have something there. :supz: and then add the other 5 from when they were in flight together before heading to Sacramento a couple years back. Then add 'Tangerine' to that photo ... pop2

Even with them 10 years gone, Gary's still out front!

Gary and Lefty always had a 'friendly' rivalry, whether they were racing their P-38's at Reno/Mojave/Miami, or even if they were traveling to and from airshow's together. Gary ALWAYS wanted to beat Lefty. One year...I think it was maybe at the '79 Miami race, Gary spent a LOT of dollars to have Mr. Moneybags (Sandberg) build up some 'super Allisons' or him. Lefty, on the other hand, showed up with White Lightnin which had two bone-stock Allisons in it, dripping with oil and just kind of ugly looking....and promptly out-qualified Gary.

Gary had a fit and was literally throwing wrenches around and cursing Sandberg's 'super engines'. He finally took a deep breath and in typical Levitz fashion announced "I just HATE these problems you can't solve with money!"

I see it every week. Would really like to repaint it to represent an early war OD/Gray P-38.
