Appearently its the most important Aviation landmark in canada, and the owner of the land wants to bulldoze the building for a ice hocky rink...

There is a petition you can sign on the website. About 2000 more signatures an there up to 15000.

There was a thread on this a while back.

It seems that there's more to the story, in that the Museum were way behind with their rent when they were evicted.

As important as it is to preserve our heritage I sometimes wonder just how important it is that we save every battle field, hangar, bullet hole, and worn out garden shed in order to remind our grandchildren where they come from. Especially modern society builds things to wear out, not like the romans or even the victorians did. Is a Civial War battlefield more or less impoartant than a WWII Hangar? iS that WWII hangar more imporant ythan the right to private property the owner is exercising when he decides to demolish the hangar for an ice rink? Somewhere there is a balnce and I am seldom happy with the one we modern Americans especially seem to want to strike.

As a Canadian who has no interest in hockey (apparently one of the few) and visited the CASM on its last day it was open I cannot believe our government is letting this slide

Well they would say that wouldn't they? Several other 'contenders' I'm quite sure.

Sorry how can you sit in your armchair and say that the CASM collection is insignificant? Its jewel is the Lancaster which is the only early FM serialled lanc surviving as her closest sister would be FM136!
I wonder if they had a B17 or B24 would you say the same thing!
